Karl Isenberg

Mesosphere
Distributed Applications Engineer

Karl is a Distributed Applications Engineer at Mesosphere primarily working on Kubernetes and its Mesos integration. Prior to Mesosphere, Karl worked on CloudFoundry and BOSH at Pivotal, and before that on the multi-brand e-commerce platform at Williams-Sonoma. He received his B.S. in Information and Computer Science at University of California, Irvine.

Current side projects include a Golang dependency injection library, a docker-compose docker-in-docker Mesos/Marathon development cluster, and an application health prober (github user karlkfi). Prior to getting paid real money, Karl also developed over 50 World of Warcraft addons and lead a group of contributors maintaining the Cosmos addon compilation. Publications include an irregularly updated tech blog (karl.isenberg.us) and lives tweets of Lego building sessions (twitter user karlkfi).

Karl is, as of this writing, the only person to have been a committer on both CloudFoundry and Kubernetes. So he is uniquely qualified to address the platform as a service (PaaS) market and evaluate the pros and cons of cloud native frameworks, lifecycle management stategies, and deployment automation tools.
